Property Preparation

Q: How should a home be prepared before the shoot?

Q: Should lights be on or off?

A: All interior lights should generally be turned on before the photographer arrives. Consistent lighting helps create bright, inviting images and minimizes dark areas within the home.

Q: Should blinds be open?

A: In most cases, blinds and curtains should be opened to maximize natural light and showcase outdoor views. Exceptions may be made when direct sunlight creates excessive glare.

Q: Do pets need to be removed?

A: Yes. For safety and efficiency, pets should be secured or removed from the property during the appointment whenever possible. Pet bowls, crates, toys, and bedding should also be removed from photographed areas.

Q: Should cars be moved from the driveway?

A: Yes. Vehicles should be removed from the driveway and positioned away from the front of the property whenever possible to provide clean exterior photographs.

Shoot Day

Q: Does the agent need to be present?

A: No. The agent, homeowner, or authorized representative may provide access to the property, but they do not need to remain on-site during the entire appointment. Present Agents are appreciated!

Q: How long does a shoot take?

A: Appointment length varies based on property size and selected services. Most standard residential photography appointments take between 60 and 90 minutes.

Q: Can homeowners be home during the shoot?

A: Yes. Homeowners may remain on the property, but it is helpful to minimize movement between rooms being photographed to allow the photographer to work efficiently. If possible, having the homeowners step out and agent stay for the photoshoot helps with efficiency.

Q: What happens if the property is not ready?

A: If the property is not photo-ready upon arrival, photography quality and appointment efficiency may be affected. Additional fees, delays, or rescheduling may be necessary depending on the situation.

A: Delivery times vary by service and workload. Most real estate photography projects are delivered within 24 hours unless otherwise communicated.
